Competent CNC Operator

In this course we break down the fundamentals of how to operate a CNC Machine safely and efficiently.

This course includes:

  • Unit 1: Understanding your Machine – The Basics. Identifying your machine; Starting your machine; The Control Panel.

  • Unit 2: Engineering Drawings; Interpreting a drawing; Understanding measurements and symbols; The title box and notes.

  • Unit 3: Production Running; Material; Running your first part; Checking tool wear; Replacing tooling; Restarting your machine; Checking your component in the machine.

  • Unit 4: QA: Measuring your component; Selecting equipment; Understanding the equipment and how to read it; Filling out documentation.

  • Unit 5: Finishing your component; Removal from the machine; Hand finishing; Process Line and Documentation.

  • Unit 6: Maintaining a Machine • General Maintenance, Fluid levels and Waste material.

Competent CNC Setter

In this course we concentrate on 2 fields to upskill your employee with the fundamentals to setting up a CNC Machine.

We cover:

  • Unit 7: Preparation; Systems and Procedures; Material; Set-up Sheets; Tooling and Measuring Equipment.

  • Unit 8: Setting up a CNC machine; Controller; Strip Down; Setting up tooling; Tooling data; Preparation of Material; Setting up work holding; Setting WPC; Running a first off.

Competent QA Technician

This is a basic course to give your new technician the knowledge and skills to be able to confidently check all components to all specifications on engineering drawings.

Fundamentals in CNC Turning and/or Milling

These courses are run in your shop dictated by yourself. They are in-depth courses concentrating on machining methods, programming, tooling, quality control and health and safety. Aimed at staff who haven’t done an apprenticeship but are looking at upskilling from operating and setting to being able to program machines.
